Trys broliai iš Naujojo Džersio – Joseph‘as, Kevin‘as ir Nicholas Jonas‘ai – įkvėpti tokių grupių, kaip „Ramones“, „Hanson“ bei „The Modern Lovers“, pradėjo kurti itin užkabinančius ir įsimenančius pop kūrinius. 2006-aisiais, kai vaikinai įkūrė grupę „Jonas Brothers“, jiems buvo atitinkamai 16,17 ir 13 metų, o tai padaryti juos pastūmėjo muzikalūs tėvai. Iš pradžių grupės varomoji jėga buvo jausmingas Nicholas‘o vokalas, kurio pakako, kad su trijule leidybinę sutartį pasirašytų „Daylight/Columbia Records“ vadovai. Iš pradžių kontraktas buvo vienam albumui, tačiau, kai broliai pradėjo rašyti naujas dainas ir kartu koncertuoti, abiem pusėms tapo aišku, kad vyksta kažkas tikrai ypatingo. Pilnas debiutinis jų albumas „It's About Time“ buvo išleistas 2006-ųjų rugpjūtį, o 2007-aisiais sekė grupės vardu pavadintas diskas „Jonas Brothers“.
